A long time ago in a theme park far, far away….

Disney-Disney’s-MGM-Hollywood Studios, or DDMGMHS, for short, opened in May 1989.  Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular opened in August of that year, and Star Tours opened in December.  During that time, this corner of the park was known as the “Backlot Annex”, or it was more commonly known as “Nothing”.

Since then, this side of the park is Lucas City.  Come to think of it, since Disney acquired the Muppets and Lucasfilm, perhaps “Annex” is a good name for this whole section of DDMGMHS.

There have been lots of changes at DDMGMHS over the years.  Several “E” Tickets have been added.  The Backlot Tour got a lot less backloty.  There are now cars doing flippy stunts on a daily basis.  But, one thing has remained consistent.  Echo Lake still contains two Big Time Lucas attractions and just one restroom to accommodate the people they attract.

I have a bad feeling about this.

As you enjoy a leisurely stroll through Echo Lake, have a leisurely look on your smartphone at the show times for Indiana Jones.  Have a leisurely look at the wait time for Star Tours.  You are smart, so you are not fooled by the tremendous ride capacity of Star Tours.  You know that there are thousands of people ready to file out of the Indy Theater, having been epically spectaculated.  You know there are thousands of people filing out of Tatooine, having just transported all over the galaxy.  You know there is just one rest stop for these thousands.

Yeah, that’s probably big enough.

These two crowd-swallowing attractions belch out these thousands of people, and these masses descend on this shed in droves.

We do hope you enjoyed your tour of Endor. Now get out.

If you are here during Star Wars Weekends, forget it.  You might take a leisurely stroll down to see the Muppets, but generally if it’s busy down near Star Tours, it’s busy in the Muppets’ neighborhood too.

Lots of room at the Star Tours Pet Stop, however.

I suggest you keep taking your leisurely stroll right to the end of the Streets of America.  Generally speaking, Indiana Jones does not kill Nazis at the same time as cars do Lighty Motory Action.  So, if you just poured out of one of the Lucasttractions, come on back here and enjoy maximum elbow room in this super-sized restroom.
