Like a grand and miraculous Odyssey Restroom, Spaceship Earth also has restrooms in which to choose.
And for a brief moment, you can be among their “passengers”. But where are you going? And what kind of restrooms will you discover there? Not surprisingly, the answers lie in our past. Since the dawn of the day today, have you visited one of the restrooms at Epcot’s entrances? Let’s travel back in time together to explore those restrooms first. Here in this hostile park entrance plaza where our story begins, you may be alone, struggling to survive among the throng of guests and security.
It seems like 15,000 years before you get through. Once you’re through, there is only one small problem: If you have to use the restroom, you’ve now passed up your opportunity to go at the entrance.
Now let’s move ahead about 100 yards or so, because something is about to happen here that will have no real bearing at all on the future.
The planners of Epcot were great inventors of the future. First they established restrooms to the left (Innovation side).
And then they created another set of restrooms on the right (Living World side).
But then we hit a roadblock: which restrooms should we use, and when?
Young people with a passion for avoiding crowds put the power of the computer into your hands. And now, it’s your turn. Grab your smartphone. Is there a long wait for Spaceship Earth? If so, avoid these restrooms altogether!
Did Illuminations just end? If so, skip these restrooms again!
And now, I believe your future is just about ready. Just choose whether you’ll go left or right, and we’ll show you a new world. Ready? Let’s take a look, shall we?
While no one knows for sure what we’ll see and do after this restroom break, I do know you’ll eventually make it to the Odyssey.
Please so more articles like this. This was an awesome read!!!
Thanks! That one took a while so I really appreciate it!
I just loved how you incorporated Spaceship Earth script in there while telling your story. You are very welcome. I would love to see references to current and past rides and scripts, songs be incorporated into your telling of the restrooms. I work those restrooms quite often and a few other ones at Epcot on overnight support services.
I think I did that on a couple others at least. American Adventure comes to mind.
