Some new additions at Walt Disney World are shops. Some new additions are attractions (aka Rides). Some new additions are restrooms. Of the three, attractions draw the most crowds. But what happens when a restroom IS an attraction? Rapunzel’s tower is just such a place.
When these restrooms opened, I swear I saw people run from the park entrance just to have the chance to be the first to use them. This place is so popular, it ought to have a line item on a park map.
Oh well. Rapunzel knows that this corner of Fantasyland needed something, and Rapunzel knows best.
Back in the day, if you were over here, you’d stop for relief next to Peter Pan’s Flight, then wait an hour in line before flying over London.
The restrooms were boring and unassuming, as were much of them at Walt Disney World back in the day – they were strictly utilitarian.
But oh how times have changed! Just look at this place!
Not only is it conspicuous, it is inviting. It’s a draw! It’s an Attraction!
Are you a cast member? Do you often here, “where is the restroom?” If you are stationed in Fantasyland, you’ll never hear it again. Not only is this a restroom, it’s a picnic area, charging station, and nighttime spectacular.
In some respects, it may be a little overboard with the theming. The men’s room is odd as there aren’t mirrors above the sinks. In their place, you find the mighty frying pan weapons. I guess The Mouse feels that a man doesn’t need to see if he’s got food in his teeth. It would have been cool if the frying pans were actually mirrors, but I digress.
The ladies’ room is painted with Rapunzel’s art and features shutters, not mirrors, over the sinks. Don’t worry though, because women never check themselves out in the mirror…
The Tangled tower is a high traffic area, as it is centered among some highly attractive attractions. It is right down from the scariest attraction in the Magic Kingdom, “it’s a small world”.
It is across from Peter Pan, a ride that draws crowds and is known for long waits. Also, perennial favorite Haunted Mansion is around the corner, so if there’s a wait there, this may generate a crowd. But of course, there’s never a wait…
Coupled with the fact that this is a new area, you’ll often find crowds. If you are strictly waiting to use the bathroom, not sight-see, try this trick: Make a visit to the Columbia Harbour House, my favorite restaurant with my favorite restrooms in the Magic Kingdom. You may even want to stay for lunch!
