Restrooms So Nice, They Named Them Twice

D23 Fanniversary

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of taking a road trip to New York City for D23’s Fanniversary event.  I took the opportunity to visit several sights in New York.  Pretty much all of them were Disney influenced.  At least, they were in my feeble mind.

I love New York

I Mickey Ears New York?

We drove in on Saturday and checked into our hotel room in Queens.  The room was decorated with the following on the wall:

Flushing Meadows

It’s like something out of some kind of fair that attracts everyone on Earth.

The next shot is from Citi Field, home of the Mets:

Flushing Meadows

It is fitting for this blog that this place is called Flushing.

The next day, Sunday, we strolled through Central Park.

Alice in Wonderland

So we could visit Alice.

Then it was off to D23’s Fanniversary!

MoMA

It was the first place I ever saw Dyson Airblades, a great piece of Modern Art.

D23

Thank you. Restrooms to the right.

D23 Fanniversary

A nice crowd waiting to get into the theater.

Once we got in, the theater filled up quickly.  I took a couple of shots (see featured image above, and regular images below).

They went to other places.

D23 Fanniversary

Come on, you know the answer.

They asked that we not take pictures during the show (as we might give away something, like the 15th anniversary of Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century).  Unlike every single time I ride Pirates of the Caribbean, I obliged.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Yo ho, is that a flash?

The show was quite interesting and fun.  It was a little awkward at one point, as they used pictures of the Studio Backlot Tour to discuss the 25th anniversary of Hollywood Studios.  This being on the same day as the ride closing.  But, they made no mention of that closing even though the crowd was murmuring.  They had two artifacts that you could take pictures with: a Duckster award and Mary Poppins’ hat.  I wish there were more things like that.  I would have loved to see a set of displays with artifacts to wander through and take pictures of.  Maybe next year.  Overall, I enjoyed it and I’ll probably do it again.

Next stop was Coney Island!

Cyclone

Like California Screamin’, but older and smaller and more dangerous.  So not at all like California Screamin’.

Coney Island

A midway game for a restroom blogger.

And finally, we made a trip to Times Square to visit with terrible Disney knock-off characters, naked women, half-naked men, religious zealots, and people badgering me to go to a comedy club.

Times Square

Count the mouse ears. Mickeys and Minnies everywhere.

Times Square

These characters actually lifted their heads up to expose human faces while I was standing there.  Just like at Disneyland.

And finally, the Disney Store.

Disney Store

Advertising everything.

As soon as we entered the store, we were blasted in the ears by blaring Frozen music: “We finish each other’s sandwiches…”  Not that I don’t get it.  Times Square is loud and this store is too.  Here’s a bunch of pictures:

Disney Store

Old-timey Mickey and Minnie

Disney Store

Hidden Winnie.

Disney Store

Tangled-themed escalator.

Disney Store

Terrifying.

Disney Store

Warp em while they’re young.

Restrooms

And what do we see tucked in the corner there?

Restrooms

Take advantage here. There aren’t a lot of public restrooms in Times Square.

Thanks for reading this very photo-heavy (for me) post.  I’ll be back with more Park Restrooms next week, I promise!
