It’s a Small World of Restrooms After All

“There’s so much that we share, that it’s time we’re aware, it’s a small world full of restrooms.”

OK, it is not as catchy as the original, but as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of “it’s a small world,” it is only fitting to explore the real important history: The restrooms of this glorious, historic attraction.

So, in the attraction’s spirit, let us take a trip to three Disney parks (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Disneyland Paris) to learn about the restrooms around the world.  Maybe we’ll find out exactly what those Sherman Brothers were really trying to tell us – that no matter where we live on this great blue marble, we all go to the bathroom the same way…or something.

Ah, the original.  At least, the original in the sense that this is the original park in which this attraction was located.  Not the original in the sense that it was first at the 1964 World’s Fair.  Also not the original in the sense that it has been renovated a bunch of times and you may find new and interesting surprises throughout.

Curiouser and curiouser

Curiouser and Curiouser…

The restroom of choice here is right across from the Disneyland Railroad, Toontown stop.  Just get off the train and it is pretty much right in front of you.  If you really want to avoid crowds, you could take a u-turn and run into Toontown.  Don’t step on the manhole covers though…

At the Magic Kingdom, our fabled attraction is entirely indoors.  Coincidentally, so are the restrooms!  Let us bow our heads now and remember a fallen comrade.  Across from “it’s a small world” is Peter Pan’s Flight, and this attraction used to have its own set of restrooms.  Sadly, with the advent of Fastpass and such, these restrooms have met their demise.

We remember

We remember.

Instead, just down the way a bit, is the new and exciting Tangled restroom!

It's a restroom! It's an attraction!

It’s a restroom! It’s an attraction!

This is the closest and most in demand restroom to “it’s a small world”.  Go for the relief, stay for the hidden Pascals, the cell phone charging, and the crowds.

This edition of the Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed contains a lot of the same little nods as the original Disneyland.  Of course, as with everything else in France, it is far superior to its American counterparts.  Don’t believe me?  Just ask any French person.

The closest restroom is actually fairly far away.  It is a nice walk to the very front of Fantasyland and right of the castle (when looking from Main Street), next to Bella Notte Pizzeria.  This restroom is rather isolated, considering the other two in Fantasyland are on the extreme other side and close to each other.  Strange layout altogether really.

So, as we take time to remember this wonderful, catchy, annoying amazing attraction, please remember that, though the mountains are wide and the ocean’s divide, we all have restrooms after all.

À bientôt, everyone!

À bientôt, everyone!

P.S. Let us also remember that there are no other attractions that were influenced by Disney’s participation in the 1964 World’s Fair, and so are not worth mentioning during this 50th anniversary celebration.

Absolutely...
